Teacher's Comments

Our class is named after the London Oval Underground station with our class Logo being Optimistic Oval. This means, as a class we are confident that we will achieve or exceed our Year One goals, targets and achievements. We will therefore challenge ourselves to achieve our best results. We love to learn through our school’s fun and intuitive curriculum. Essentially, our creative themes and topics are enjoyable, exciting and engaging with everyone encouraged to explore, investigate and question the world around them.

We are excited to be named after the world-famous Oval Cricket ground with over 150 years of cricketing history. Did you know that it is currently known for sponsorship reasons as the Kia Oval? Cricket matches were played on the common throughout the early 18th century. The earliest recorded first-class match was the London v Dartford match on the 18th June 1724.

We will be researching more about this famous venue and looking forward to learning how to play cricket as a team.

We will keep you informed of our learning, themes and events throughout the year and would like you to work in partnership with us. We are very optimistic that children in Oval class will have a wonderful and happy learning experience in Year One.
