Teacher's Comments

We are the Legendary Luther King class who diligently work to achieve our learning goals and personal aspirations. We take inspiration from our class name, which ensures that we always strive to reach for our dreams and always give 100% to achieve our goals. We learn from our mistakes and this helps us to be better learners in the classroom and in the future. As a class, we always support, encourage and motivate each other on our exciting learning journey.

Martin Luther King was important because he tried to put an end to racism and make peace for the world. He wanted people to be treated equally. This is an ethos we strive to abide by in our class, everyone is equal and every opinion counts. Did you know that in 1964, at the age of 35, Martin Luther King won the Nobel Peace Prize? To this day he is still the youngest male to ever receive it. He is still regarded as a pioneer who overcame many obstacles to realise his dreams. These are the steps we aim to follow.

Our class author is Roald Dahl. He is an author who was well known for his unique style of writing for children, which incorporates fantasy into the real world. Much of his writing was influenced by specific childhood experiences, for example, his fondness for a particular candy shop formed the basis for "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Being sent to boarding school was also an unpleasant experience, which probably influenced the writing of "Matilda". Both these books have also been made into films. His imagination and unique writing style help us to become more sophisticated writers. If you would like to know more about him you can look at his website.

Luther King class are a very enthusiastic and caring class who love to learn. We are incredibly creative and thrive in the performing arts. We do drama and dance every week and are all beginning our journey to learn the recorder. We also love football and gymnastics and enjoy playing as a team at break times and in tournaments too. Please come and say hello any time so we can show you some of our wonderful learning!
