Teacher's Comments

Welcome to Knowledgeable Kingsley Class!  We are an enthusiastic and hard working group of children who take great pride in our learning. Our class is named after the famous female explorer Mary Kingsley whose journey's to Africa helped shape a realistic understanding of life in Africa for Europeans. Her travels are also the inspiration for the sensory garden in the Foundation Stage Unit. We are looking forward to lots of exploring and learning with Miss Greenwood and Mrs Keys throughout the year.

Just like Mary Kingsley we like new experiences and we are not afraid to ask lots of questions. We like to share our experiences and celebrate everyone's achievements. Our first topic will be based on 'The Best of British'. This includes learning about Mary Kingsley and the places she visited (a British explorer), Jill Murphy (Our class author of British origin) and lastly, learning generally about things that are the foundation of British culture.

Our class author is Jill Murphy, a British author who was born in London. She first began writing stories and drawing at the young age of 6. Her most famous work includes the ‘Worst Witch’ novels and her ‘large Family’ storybooks. Jill Murphy has been called ‘one of the most engaging writers and illustrators for children in the land’.

We are a caring and respectful class who love to learn! We believe that learning should be fun and enjoy taking risks in our learning along the way . We have high expectations of ourselves and always try our hardest to do as well as we can.
